$10,000 Down Payment Assistance for First-Generation Home Buyer

We’re excited to share an important opportunity to support first-generation and limited-English-proficiency homebuyers on their journey to homeownership.
The Oregon Vietnamese American Cultural Center (OVACC), together with AREAA Portland, Portland Beauty Academy, WealthWave, and in collaboration with our local banking partners will be hosting future Financial Wellness & Homeownership Classes.
This 2-hour class will cover:
Budgeting and credit basics
First-time homebuyer education
Tools for financial wellness
Why it matters:
Participants who complete the class will receive a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to apply for the Pathway to Homeownership Down Payment Assistance Grant — with two $10,000 grants available for 2026.
Eligibility criteria (preference given, but not required):
Limited English proficiency
Low to moderate income
First-generation homebuyer (first in family to purchase a home, parents/guardians have never owned one)
